Underrepresented Scholarships Made Possible by Google Cloud

Every year, and from the beginning, we’ve made it a priority to ensure members of historically underrepresented organizations attend the conference. With open source underpinning and heavily influencing much of what is used today, we feel this has never been more vital.

After all, conferences are often gateways to communities as well as gateways to the very tables where technology decisions are made that affect and impact us all. If everyone is not included and welcomed, how can we expect opportunities and results that effectively serve the entire population? The answer is – we can’t.

This year ensuring that members of these communities attend and participate will again be a priority, and we couldn’t be more thankful or pleased to announce Google Cloud, as part of the open source Kubernetes DEI Initiative, is making it possible.

The generous support of Google Cloud is enabling members of 10 underrepresented organizations to attend and participate. The organizations include:

  1. Women Who Code Raleigh Durham
  2. NC Women in Machine Learning and Data Science
  3. Devs@RTP
  4. ChickTech RDU
  5. Girl Develop IT RDU
  6. Data Scientista Society (formerly Data + Women + Triangle)
  7. PyLadies RDU
  8. Minorities in STEM RDU
  9. Women Who Code Birmingham
  10. Code the Dream

Our hope this year, as it is every year, is that members of these groups learn something new, meet new people, and in many cases, are afforded an opportunity to get their foot in the door and better themselves and the open source/technology industry as a whole.

In addition, we hope conference attendees will stop by the exhibit tables of these organizations and volunteer their time mentoring or volunteering, or perhaps hire someone, or even contribute financially.

Many thanks again to Google Cloud, as part of the open source Kubernetes DEI Initiative, for making it possible.
