Open source Minecraft modding has come a long way in the past ten years, and has helped cement Minecraft as one of the best selling games of all time. Mods let you change the game. Anything from subtly tweaking monster behavior to adding entirely new game modes is possible.
In this session, we will explore the current state of the Minecraft modding universe with Forge and Java. We will start by installing Forge and setting up a working developer environment. Next we will explore Minecraft modding concepts and build some simple mods. Pigs will explode, lightning will be summoned, and things may possibly get out of control. Finally we will wrap up with how to package your mod to share with your friends.
