AWS Hosting Open Distro for Elasticsearch Hackday Oct 14 – Sign Up Today!

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is unveiling a cool event at All Things Open this year –
Open Distro for Elasticsearch Hackday.

What is it?

The Hackday is a day-long event where you’ll be able to work on real Elasticsearch problems using the distribution and codebase of Open Distro for Elasticsearch, a downstream distribution of the Elasticsearch stack. The event is geared towards search technology developers, engineers and enthusiasts: both students and professionals.

When and where?

The Hackday is on Monday, October 14 in State Ballroom A at the Marriott. It’s within easy walking distance from conference registration. Volunteers and signage will be strategically placed to ensure participants reach the Hackday quickly and hassle-free.

No additional cost, but RSVP is required

There is no additional cost for the Hackday to registrants of All Things Open. However, a RSVP is required for participating at the hackathon. However, if you’re running late but would love to participate at the hackathon, show up and register on-site. Remember space is limited so come early.

About the Event:
Whether you’re already deeply involved with the Elasticsearch stack or new to it, hands-on is the best way to learn and improve skills. Hack days are great ways to explore new ideas and acquire experience with the technologies you use or plan to use. Join us for this day-long event where you’ll be able to work on real Elasticsearch problems, using the distribution and codebase of Open Distro for Elasticsearch. Open Distro is a downstream distribution of Elasticsearch with additional features like built-in security, alerting, performance diagnostics, machine learning and more.

At this event, you could build on existing Open Distro for Elasticsearch features. Projects could include security integration for third-party auth systems and alerting web hooks for Gitter. You could work on front-end components such as a React client for the Performance Analyzer or new dashboard visualizations in Kibana. You could also work on UX design or technical documentation for Open Distro components.

We will have Open Distro experts and mentors available to help and guide you. Lunch and snacks will be served. There will be prizes and swag for the winners.
